Ballistic vests for Indian Army close to final call
A contract for 186,000 ballistic vests for the Indian Army is reaching fruition and could be awarded by the end of 2018.
With trials complete and a technical evaluation under way, commercial bids are expected to be opened within a month, a senior army official said on condition of anonymity. Delivery is scheduled three years after signing a contract.
The army has indicated a requirement for 157,000 more vests. The process for these additional sets will commence once the present deal is finalised.
This original bid was released in 2009 but withdrawn in 2015 after contenders were unable to meet
