AUSA Global 2019: Containerised Weapon System to integrate new possibilities
The US Army’s Containerised Weapon System (CWS) will receive upgraded capabilities as a number of already operational systems get the go-ahead for integration in the coming months.
These newly integrated systems include the Firefly acoustic threat detection system and the Switchblade Lightweight Miniature Aerial Munition (LMAM). Both have recently completed safety testing on the with the safety confirmation expected in either April or May 2019.
As both the Firefly and the Switchblade are already in use they will be operational as part of the CWS almost immediately after the safety go-ahead is given, emphasised John Dillion, Principal Engineer at CWS
