Ajax assembly comes to Merthyr
The site for the assembly, integration and testing (AIT) for the Ajax family of reconnaissance vehicles (formerly Scout SV) for the British Army has been bought by General Dynamics UK.
A spokesperson for the company told Shephard that a deal for a former fork-lift factory in Merthyr, Wales was signed in October. The site is just 20 miles from GDUK’s existing facility in Oakdale.
The site was selected as it has pre-existing infrastructure including cranes and sheds that will be important to undertake the AIT work once the Ajax vehicles begin to arrive from Spain.
