ADEX 2019: Hanwha working on a next-generation AAV
The Republic of Korea Marine Corps (ROKMC) relies on Korea Amphibious Assault Vehicles (KAAV), a licenced version of BAE Systems’ AAV7A1, but further in the future the service will receive a new vehicle that is currently under development by Hanwha Defense.
The South Korean defence conglomerate unveiled a scale model of the KAAV II at Seoul ADEX 2019, with the project now in the technical development phase.
Jong Jin Lee, team leader with the company’s Research Institute KAAV II Program Group, told Shephard that development of the new amphibious vehicle commenced in 2018 after a development contract was awarded
