Sea-Air-Space 2019: US Navy defends USS Harry S Truman refuelling flip flop
The US Navy (USN) has backed its decision to approve a mid-life refuelling of the aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman (CVN-75), having previously proposed sending the ship into early retirement.
Deciding on which course of action to pursue had always been based upon a ‘proposal that had a lot of different elements’ explained ADM John Richardson, USN, during the Sea Air Space exhibition.
‘We’re sort of examining the balance of the naval power contribution with the Truman, versus maybe some advanced technologies,’ he said.
