Kongsberg announced on 9 April 2015 it had received a letter of award (LoA) to supply its Naval Strike Missile (NSM) to arm Malaysia’s six 3,000-tonne Second Generation Patrol Vessel - Littoral Combat Ships (SGPV-LCS). Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation (BHIC) is responsible for constructing the Royal Malaysian Navy’s (RMN) new vessels.

Harald Ånnestad, president of Kongsberg Defence Systems, commented, ‘This agreement with Boustead Naval Shipyard is to prepare the future Royal Malaysian [Navy] Littoral Combat Ships for NSM, and confirms NSM’s very strong competitiveness in the international market. Malaysia is the third user of this modern, fifth-generation, anti-surface weapon.’
