IMDEX Asia: RSN chief stresses need for regional security cooperation

As various navies gather in Singapore for IMDEX Asia 2015, Asia-Pacific’s premier international maritime defence show, Singapore’s naval chief is taking a pragmatic view about the need to use the event as a conduit for greater regional collaboration.

Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han asserted that the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) faces multiple challenges, such as maritime terrorism and piracy, but argued that such threats are ‘transnational in nature and cannot be effectively tackled by a single agency or country’.
