Northrop Grumman to expand Canadian presence
Northrop Grumman has announced plans to collaborate with Diamond Aircraft Industries on the development of new intelligence-gathering aircraft capabilities to meet the requirements of the Canadian and international markets.
Northrop Grumman, which made the announcement from the CANSEC 2014 exhibition in Ottawa, will establish a presence in Ontario, near Diamond Aircraft's production facility at London International Airport, as part of this effort.
The companies will combine their best-of-breed technologies and capabilities for the work. Diamond Aircraft Industries develops and manufactures advanced technology all composite personal and flight training general aviation aircraft. The company also offers worldwide training and support services either factory direct or through its network of authorised service centres.
George Vardoulakis, vice president, medium range tactical systems, Northrop Grumman, said: ‘Diamond Aircraft has a long history of superior design and manufacturing processes for propeller-driven general aviation aircraft. Combined with Northrop Grumman's leadership in manned and unmanned systems, we can pool our expertise to explore new opportunities for our customers worldwide.’
Peter Maurer, president and chief executive officer, Diamond Industries (Canada), added: ‘Collaborating with Northrop Grumman is a great opportunity to bring high-value work to Southern Ontario and to develop new Canadian products for domestic and international markets. We're very excited to move forward in this long-term relationship.’
