Eurofighter Simulation Systems (ESS) and CAE have renewed their collaboration agreement for the provision of Eurofighter Typhoon visual training systems, CAE announced on 13 July.
The systems are used on the Eurofighter Aircrew Synthetic Training Aids (ASTA) programme, for which ESS is the prime contractor for the training systems used by Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria and the UK.
CAE has provided visual systems required under the ASTA programme, and the extended agreement means that it will continue working exclusively with ESS on the programme.
The company's visual systems under the programme includes the CAE Medallion 6000 image generator, data development tools and display systems.
Ian Bell, vice president and general manager, Europe/Middle East/Africa, CAE, said: 'We are pleased to extend our relationship with Eurofighter Simulation Systems and look forward to offering our next-generation visual solutions to the existing Eurofighter partner nations as well as potential export customers.
'ESS delivers value to all Eurofighter customers by helping ensure the highest quality training systems are delivered in support of one of the world's most advanced and capable combat aircraft.'
Francisco Munoz, managing director, ESS, said: 'It has been nearly 15 years since CAE was originally selected as the preferred supplier of Eurofighter ASTA visual systems, and CAE's high-fidelity visual solutions have been a critical part of the Eurofighter programme.
'In the coming years there are opportunities to upgrade the visual systems on existing Eurofighter training devices operated by the partner nations, as well as potentially provide additional systems as part of any Eurofighter export sale. We look forward to continued collaboration with CAE as we deliver and support the world-class Eurofighter training systems.'
