AOC 2018: Pentagon creates entity to promote artificial intelligence

The US Department of Defense (DoD) has stood up a new Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) to spur the rapid development and fielding of new AI capabilities, a Pentagon official said on 27 November.

Dana Deasy, the DoD’s chief information officer, said the JAIC will be discussed in detail at a ‘very large’ AI industry day that the department is scheduled to hold on 28 November in Silver Spring, Maryland.
