US Air Force seeks additional operational squadrons
Stretched thin by a growing workload the US Air Force needs to add 74 operational squadrons, nearly a 24% increase, to improve its ability to fight and win wars according to service secretary Heather Wilson.
Based on a six-month study, the USAF has concluded it should have 386 squadrons by 2030, up from 312 today, Wilson announced at the Air Force Association’s (AFA) annual Air, Space and Cyber conference near Washington, DC on 17 September.
