Taiwan pyrotechnics sale raises question mark
A $62 million contract for hand-held signal flares is raising questions in Taiwan defence circles.
Security Signals Inc, based in Cordova, Tennessee, won a firm-fixed-price US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract to supply Taiwan with five types of flares: M125A1 green star cluster, M158 red star cluster, M159 white star cluster, M126A1 red star parachute, M127A1 white star parachute and M195 green star parachute.
The FMS announcement was made on 31 July with only one bid submitted, Security Signals, to the US Army Contracting Command.
