German Army structural reforms forge ahead
The German Army is pushing drastic reforms that will see a downsized force continue to retain a warfighting capability whilst focusing on low-medium intensity operations.
In a briefing during Rheinmetall’s Berlin Defence Talks on 27 August, Lt Gen Rainer Korff, commander of the German elements of the Multinational (MN) Corps, announced that the German Army’s structure will include a Rapid Response Force Division; the 1st Armoured Division; and a Southern Division.
There will also be a French-German Brigade and three German elements that will be available to participate in the MN Corps.
