China and India calm border dispute
This week’s 17th Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) began with a panel session on the border dispute between China and India, ahead of a keynote address by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the SLD banquet.
The SLD, sponsored by the London-based International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS), is being held from 1-3 June in Singapore.
The first IISS panel, held early on 1 June, and entitled ‘India-China Relations: Prospects for Cooperation and Competition’, pitted Sr Col Zhou Bo, director of the Centre for Security Cooperation at China’s Ministry of National Defense, against Ram Madhav, the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
