X2 to push the envelope

Sikorsky is making hay to get its X2 technology demonstrator to 250 knots.

Carey Bond, Sikorsky Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer who was attending Heli-Expo in place of CEO Jeff Pino told journalists at the company's 'State of Sikorsky' press conference that the company was 'excited' about the strides made by the project.

"Our expectations have been superseded by this little aeroplane," he said, describing the X2's low noise signature as phenomenal.

In January, Sikorsky successfully ground tested X2 with the pusher propeller at the rear installed and spinning for the first time. This system will provide the forward thrust
