Italian UH-90 helicopters reach milestone
The UH-90 of the Italian Army have achieved 3,000 flying hours in Afghanistan, NH Industries announced on 16 January.
The UH-90 is the tactical transport version of the NH90 helicopter produced by NH Industries for the Italian Army.
The helicopters reached the milestone during an aerial reconnaissance mission over the Herat area. The UH-90 multirole helicopters of Task Group Fenice, in service with Train Advise Assist Command – West (TAAC-W), have been operating in Afghanistan since 2012.
In that time the fleet has performed over 1,650 operative missions, operating in the west region of Afghanistan for tactical transport, reconnaissance, liaison and support to special forces. The aircraft has also played an essential role in aeromedical evacuation tasks in support of TAAC-W personnel carrying out training and support of the Afghan armed forces.
