Swiss Air Force receives first upgraded Super Pumas

The Swiss Air Force has taken delivery of its first pair of upgraded Super Puma transport helicopters, it has been revealed.

The first upgraded aircraft were handed over by RUAG during a ceremony at its Emmen, Switzerland facility on 2 April.

The updated Super Pumas have been given the Swiss Air Force designation TH06, which replaces the previous designation TH89.

Although the aircraft were purchased in 1987 as a transport and utility helicopter, the upgrade gives the Super Puma a new multi-mission role. With the upgrade the aircraft have been fitted with a EO/IR turret allowing them to play a
