The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has inducted the S-70B Seahawk into service.

During a ceremony at Sembawang AB on 18 January, the six aircraft were inaugurated into the RSAF's first naval unit, 123 Squadron.

The squadron will join the Helicopter Group under the RSAF's Participation Command, which was set up in 2007 to develop and deploy air power in support of land and maritime operations.

The Seahawks were ordered in January 2005 to operate from the Singapore Navy's Formidable Class frigates.

Training was carried out by the US Navy in Southern California under a programme called Peace Triton.
