Seoul to begin search for naval helicopters

The Republic of Korea Navy’s (ROKN) search for a dozen additional helicopters suitable for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) is set to begin in May, according to an announcement by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) on 23 April.

Regarding the Korea Maritime Operations Helicopter (KMOH) programme, DAPA said in a statement, ‘The bid is to open next month while a preferred bidder is to be selected through a comprehensive assessment of operational capabilities and costs.’

An RfP for this second batch of naval helicopters is expected to be worth up to KRW900 billion ($810 million).
