Russian Naval Aviation fleet expands

The Russian Naval Aviation (RNA) service plans to take its first batch of Ka-27PL anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters in December 2016. The news comes at a time when the RNA receives its first Mi-8AMTSh-VA for Arctic operations.

The first two production-standard Ka-27Ms were originally planned to be handed over to the RNA in late 2014/early 2015 – some 12 years after the project’s launch - but the programme has endured a delay of almost two years.
