Quad A 2016: DVE solution goes in-house

The US Army has decided to pursue existing technology being developed by the government for its Brownout Rotorcraft Enhancement System (BORES) requirement, ruling out any plans to procure a new system from industry.

For several months, the service had been canvassing industry for technology that would help helicopter crews see through dust and sand thrown up by rotorblades during take off and landing.

It released a request for information (RFI) last November for so-called degraded visual environment (DVE) technology, but only this month it was disclosed that the army had opted to go for in-house technology instead.
