Russia stays optimistic about Ka-226T deal with India

Will India finally follow through with its plan to buy 200 helicopters?

There are some encouraging signs that the Kamov Ka-226T light utility helicopter is moving closer to serial production for India.

Accident resistance tests began in late 2020 on the fuel system, after the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant handed over two completed fuselages to Technodinamika Holding.

This followed remarks by Andrey Boginsky, general director of Russian Helicopters, that initial production is under way in line with design specifications and requirements developed by the Indian MoD.

In addition, Ka-226T production has been transferred from the Kumertau plant in Bashkortostan to Ulan-Ude.
