More of the same, please, for Philippine helicopters

The Philippines has its eyes set on more S-70i helicopters, but the exact number varies according to which official one talks to.

Deliveries of 16 Sikorsky S-70i aircraft to the Philippine Air Force (PAF) are not even halfway through, but already the air force has been promised many more of these combat utility helicopters.

Manila announced on 4 February that it was approving the purchase of 15 extra S-70i Black Hawks.

Philippine Cabinet Secretary Karo Nograles revealed that President Rodrigo Duterte had approved them after a cabinet meeting on 3 February. 

‘The Department of National Defense says we actually require a total of 76 helicopters, and while the president initially agreed to acquire 55 new helicopters, that number has been reduced
