Philippines searches for ASW helicopter

The Philippines is set to open bidding for two anti-submarine warfare helicopters (ASW) in October, after invitation-to-bid documents were despatched on 25 September. An earlier tendering round in July was cancelled because bidders failed to meet documentation requirements.

The Department of National Defense (DND) has allocated PHP5.405 billion ($120 million) for this project that will see a helicopter allocated to each of the Philippine Navy’s (PN) two cutters (BRP Gregorio Del Pilar and BRP Ramon Alcaraz) obtained from the US Coast Guard.
