Mexico redefines rotary-wing plans

Mexico’s Ministry Of National Defence plans to procure 91 helicopters as part of its 2013-2018 National Defence Sector Programme (PSDN) – although the exact composition of its rotary-wing fleet is changing.

The first phase consisted of seven AgustaWestland AW109SP light transport helicopters procured to augment the Presidential Air Transport Group.

As a second phase, the Mexican Air Force (FAM) planned to procure 36 Bell 407GXs, 24 Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawks and 24 Mil Mi-17V-5s for a combined $1.68 billion.
