Germany to send WS-61 Westland Sea King helicopters to Ukraine
Germany has committed to sending Ukraine six of its 21 retiring WS-61 Westland Sea King multirole, amphibious helicopters.
MD Helicopters (MDHI) has received a second order to deliver six armed MD 530F Cayuse Warrior helicopters for the Kenya Defence Force, the company announced on 27 September.
The order has been issued against the company’s five-year, $1.4 billion light scout attack helicopter IDIQ contract. The award also includes initial logistics support for the aircraft, aircraft systems and ground support equipment.
The contract was awarded through US Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Initial deliveries will take place in April 2019, with deliveries to be complete by August 2019.
Kenya’s Cayuse Warrior fleet will be outfitted with FN Herstal’s weapons management system and .50 calibre HMP 400 machine gun pods; DillonAero’s mission configurable armament system and fixed-forward sighting system; 62mm ballistic armour protection; and M260 7-shot rocket pods. Onboard communication systems will include the Harris RF-7850A tactical radio and the Rockwell Collins HF-9000D.
All aircraft will be delivered with a full US Army-awarded airworthiness release.
