IDEF 2013: TAI outlines new Turkish helicopter

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) will fly a new, indigenously-developed 5t helicopter within the next five years, the company has claimed.

Speaking at the IDEF exhibition in Istanbul, Emre Yazici, vice president of TAI’s helicopter group, said after an initial slow start, the project was now running to an ‘aggressive’ schedule.

The programme to develop an indigenous helicopter for both military and civilian applications was launched in 2010 when a Turkish government committee appointed TAI as the prime contractor.
