Germany to send WS-61 Westland Sea King helicopters to Ukraine
Germany has committed to sending Ukraine six of its 21 retiring WS-61 Westland Sea King multirole, amphibious helicopters.
Sikorsky has echoed other manufacturers in foretelling the recovery of the commercial helicopter market.
In his annual ‘state of Sikorsky’ briefing at Heli-Expo, CEO Jeffrey Pino said he was ‘very optimistic’ that the company had seen the end of the downward trend, especially in terms of the 9+ passenger segment.
‘If you break the fleet down to those that carry less than nine passengers and those that carry more than nine, you see that what’s driving this marketplace is clearly the nine plus fleet,’ Pino said.
He noted that the offshore oil industry was still generating the majority of sales
