Greece requests CH-47D helicopters
The US State Department is considering a potential $80 million foreign military sale of CH-47D helicopters to Greece, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 28 April.
Greece has requested the aircraft to modernise its rotary-wing transport capability. The CH-47D will also increase interoperability between Greece, the US and other NATO allies.
The Greek government request includes five CH-47D helicopters, seven Common Missile Warning Systems and twelve T55-GA-714A turbine engines.
The package also includes mission equipment, communications and navigation equipment, ground support equipment, special tools and test equipment, spares, publications, maintenance work order/engineering change proposals, technical support, training and other associated support equipment and services.
There is no prime contractor as the aircraft will be coming from US Army stocks.
