German medevac NH90s sent to Afghanistan

Germany has delivered the first of four multi-role NH90 utility helicopters to Mazer-e Sharif, Afghanistan to provide emergency air rescue for front-line casualties. 

The helicopter will be tasked for use in the forward air medical evacuation (FAM) role, and three more NH90s from the Transport Helicopter Regiment 10 in Fassberg will follow over the next few weeks, with deliveries to be completed by 30 June.

One NH90 will be configured for medevac, one as an armed escort, and the remaining two will be held in technical reserve.
