Germany to send WS-61 Westland Sea King helicopters to Ukraine
Germany has committed to sending Ukraine six of its 21 retiring WS-61 Westland Sea King multirole, amphibious helicopters.
The Public Service Dauphins of the French Navy have marked a milestone, rescuing 1,430 people over 15 years.
The Dauphins, operated by 35F Flotille maintain a constant Search and Rescue alert at five sites around the French coast from Le Touquet, Cherbourg, Lanvéoc, La Rochelle and Hyères.
Since 1994, the squadron has used the aircraft to rescue 1,430 people, roughly 100 people per year. During the first 10 months of 2009, the Dauphin SP conducted 458 missions totaling 654 hours of flight. 168 people have been rescued.
