Belgian weapons specialist FN Herstal has revealed pictures of an armed AW101 Merlin undergoing weapons integration testing.

It is understood AgustaWestland borrowed an Italian Navy AW101 and fitted the aircraft with the FN Herstal HMP400 0.50cal gun pod and the company's RMP Rocket Machine Gun Pod for testing. It is understood the weapons systems will be fitted to AW101s destined for an undisclosed North African country later this year.

The company has also integrated a pod mounted M3P rapid fire 0.50cal machine gun fitted on the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior.
