First AW139s delivered to Royal Thai Army
Two AW139 twin-engine helicopters ordered by the Royal Thai Army in 2012 have been delivered by AgustaWestland. The company announced the delivery from the Singapore Airshow on 11 February.
The aircraft will be used in transport and utility mission roles across Thailand. AgustaWestland will also deliver a comprehensive maintenance and training package according to the terms of the contract.
This is the first delivery of an AW139 into Thailand’s military helicopter market. Demand for the aircraft type is growing among military customers, with the armed forces of Ireland, Qatar, UAE and Italy all operating the AW139 for a range of roles including VIP and government transport, utility, search and rescue, emergency medical service, troop transport, border patrol, law enforcement, special operations and homeland security.
