Germany to send WS-61 Westland Sea King helicopters to Ukraine
Germany has committed to sending Ukraine six of its 21 retiring WS-61 Westland Sea King multirole, amphibious helicopters.
Airbus Helicopters has delivered the first H125 helicopter to the Ecuadorian Ministry of Defense, the company announced on 26 January.
The company signed a contract in November 2017 for the delivery of two H125s for the Ecuadorian Army Aviation Brigade. The second helicopter will be delivered in the autumn of 2018.
The helicopters will be operated from the by Army Aviation base in Porto Viejo for a range of transport missions, aerial surveillance and natural disaster support.
Airbus Helicopters will also train 12 mechanics and six pilots under the contract.
Col Santiago Almeida, Commander of the Army Aviation, said: ‘With the delivery of this first H125, we take another step in modernising our aviation fleet. It is important that the army of Ecuador strengthen its operational capabilities with high-tech aircraft capable of meeting the most demanding needs of the country.’
