Dubai Airshow 2019: Stress tells on UAE AW609 deal (updated)

Issues of customer confidentiality are preventing Leonardo from disclosing the current status of an AW609 deal with the UAE Joint Aviation Command (JAC), leaving programme progress open to interpretation. 

A signing of a MoU between the service and AugustaWestland at the Dubai Airshow in 2015 marked the JAC as launch customer of the tiltrotor in a SAR configuration, with agreement terms initially providing for three aircraft and an option for an additional three.  

At the time a 2019 delivery target for the JAC bound aircraft was shared, but owing to certification complications any deliveries of the new tiltrotor will not
