Bangladesh signs up for more Mi-171s

The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) ordered five Mil Mi-171Sh transport helicopters from Russian Helicopters on 12 June, although the monetary value of the deal was not disclosed. 

The Bangladesh military’s Inter Services Public Relations reported that the ‘helicopters will be used in United Nations peacekeeping operations’ and that it was a further step ‘to modernise the Bangladesh Air Force’.

A signing ceremony occurred at the Air Headquarters in Dhaka, with chief of air staff Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar and Ageev Dmitry, deputy chief of section for Rosoboronexport, present.

The helicopters will be equipped with extra fuel tanks, external slings
