Australian 725 Squadron to operate MH-60R

The Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) commissioned its newest unit, 725 Squadron, which is equipped with Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawks, on 11 June. The squadron will be responsible for MH-60R training from HMAS Albatross in Nowra, New South Wales.

At the commissioning ceremony, Defence Minister Kevin Andrews said, ‘The MH-60R provides navy with advanced anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface capabilities through the use of a sophisticated sensor suite, torpedoes and air-to-surface missiles. This will increase navy’s versatility and potency as a high-end fighting force.’
