AUSA 2016: L-3 brings the light

Demands from military users across Africa, South America and the Middle East have led to L-3 Wescam’s development and launch of its new MX-8 multi-sensor turret.

Unveiled to the public at AUSA in Washington DC, the MX-8 is the company’s smallest turret to date, weighing in at 6.8kg for smaller fixed wing, rotary, tactical aerostat and UAV platforms.

Speaking at the exhibition, an L-3 Wescam spokesperson said the company had been flight testing for the past year but its launch at AUSA reflected the confidence developers had in its maturity.
