AmSafe Bridport will supply specialist helicopter cargo lifting equipment to the Frenchdefence procurment agency for installation on the French armed forces’ NH-90, Puma, Super Puma, Cougar and Caracal helicopters.

The company received a €12.5 million contract for the multipurpose helicopter transport system - designated système d’hélitransport polyvalent (SHP) – over a seven year period.

In total 256 SHP sets will be delivered. The equipment enables the safe and efficient transport of cargo loads on transport helicopters, both internally and underslung. Included is the company’s QuickDrop remote controlled pendent and hook system which allows loads to be safely dropped by the helicopter crew without assistance from ground crew, reducing the risk to troops on the ground.

Neal McKeever, sales and marketing director, AmSafe Bridport, said: ‘This contract win further strengthens AmSafe Bridport’s position as the world leading provider of helicopter cargo transportation systems. Our unique and effective products have been developed by working closely with the worlds armed forces to understand their needs and engineer solutions that provide significant benefits.’
