Laser targeting system adds potential to reconfigure Yak-130
Integration of the SOLT-25 IR/TV/laser targeting and designation system could facilitate the long-discussed transformation of the Yak-130 jet trainer into a light attack aircraft.
An adapted Yak-130 was shown by Shvabe Holding at the Army-2020 show last month. Previously, the system was installed only on upgraded Su-25SM3 attack aircraft. In the version for Yak-130, SOLT-25 is designed as a targeting pod.
Sergey Popov, deputy general director for R&D of Shvabe Holding, claimed that SOLT-25 is also earmarked for installation on other Russian combat aircraft.
