Indonesian interest in Osprey wavers
The 6 July announcement of a potential FMS deal for eight Bell-Boeing MV-22B Block C Ospreys to Indonesia took many by surprise. Including some in the Indonesian government, it seems.
Indonesia issued a letter of request for pricing, which eventually triggered the announcement by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) in the US.
Yet the Indonesian MoD quickly distanced itself. Donny Ermawan Taufanto, Secretary General of the MoD, told local media on 8 July after a working meeting of the House of Representatives: ‘No, we are not there yet to plan (purchase) the Osprey aircraft.’
