Unmanned RQ-7B Shadow aircraft teamed with US Army Apache AH-64 attack helicopters have made a ‘significant impact’ during their first operational tour of Iraq, army officials have told Shephard.

The first Apache unit to be organically paired with the Shadow – in what is known as manned-unmanned teaming (MUMT) - was activated earlier this year and deployed in the summer.

The 3rd Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment (3-6 CAV) – part of the 1st Armored Division – was the first unit, out of an eventual 10, to become an integrated Apache-Shadow unit.
