Puma slinks quietly into Australia

An RQ-20B Puma AE took part in a live-fire demonstration of the US-operated High Mobility Artillery Rocket System in the recently conducted Exercise Talisman Sabre 2019. 

This represents the first indication that Shephard has had that this particular AeroVironment platform had been procured by the Australian Army.

A military representative said, ‘The system was used on Exercise Talisman Sabre 2019 by 20 STA to support the exercise outcomes.’

The 20 STA denotes the 20th Surveillance and Target Acquisition Regiment, a Brisbane-based unit of the Australian Army.

In fact, the Puma AE’s first use was during Operation APEC Assist 2018,
