Paris Air Show: Re-using loitering munitions

Loitering munitions could in the future be returned to the operator, as long as the warhead itself was not armed, said senior IAI officials at the Paris Air Show 2015.

Boaz Levy, IAI systems, missile, and space group general manager, told Shephard that it was conceivable that future developments of the newly-launched Harop programme could see the capability to return unspent munitions to the operator for reuse.

‘You don’t expect a loitering weapon to come back but if the warhead was not activated and the velocity safe enough, then you could think about ways to bring it back.
