LIMA 2019: Grin, Reaper, for regional opportunities abound

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc (GA-ASI) is sensing many opportunities around the Asia-Pacific region for its MQ-9 UAV family, starting with a Malaysian requirement for an aircraft capable of maritime surveillance.

Malaysia issued a simple, one-page RfI for such a MALE UAV last December, and GA-ASI has responded to it.

While some cynics might suggest that the RfI was issued simply to draw out OEMs and attract some semblance of excitement at LIMA 2019, GA-ASI believes Malaysia has a genuine requirement in this area.
