International UAV test site consortium launched

Four international UAV test centres have joined forces to form the International Consortium of Aeronautical Test Sites, it has been revealed.

The organisation was officially launched on 27 February in Quebec, Canada. The founding members include: France’s CESA UAV Test & Service Centre in Bordeaux; Oklahoma State University’s Multispectral Laboratories; the National Aeronautical Centre in Wales; and the UAS Centre of Excellence in Quebec.

A consortium spokesman said it was the ‘first international organisation of its kind’ and it is envisaged that the consortium will enable development, testing and certification of UAS/RPAS to ‘allow for their use in non-segregated airspace’
