Eurosatory 2012: Textron progressing with munition UAV

Textron Defense Systems is in the process of selecting a control system for its very first UAV, the BattleHawk, company officials have disclosed.

The company is looking for a COTS control system for its remote aerial munition platform, which will ‘most likely be a “droid”, cellphone-sized device’, Jay Johnson, senior director of ground systems programme development at the company told Shephard at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris, France.

‘We’re trying to optimise it for the needs of the soldier; as light and as common to the soldier as possible.’

It is some 18 months in development, and is an internally-funded
