China restricts UAV tech exports
China is implementing a second round of regulations to restrict the export of UAV technology, according to a joint announcement by the Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs.
The latest rules, which will be enacted on 15 August, apply to UAVs at the higher-performance end of the spectrum, rather than the many consumer craft sold by companies like DJI. The rationale given was to protect national security.
The announcement did not mention what sizes or weight classes of UAVs are restricted. These included UAVs capable of flying for longer than 60 minutes, flying at heights of
