AUVSI 2015: Ground robots here to stay, as autonomy will bring new roles

Ground robots will be a fixture in the market for the foreseeable future as they become more sophisticated in dealing with current and predicted roles, according to Tom Frost, senior vice president and general manager for defence and security at iRobot.

Frost said that fresh from the delivery last month of 20 CBRN-fitted PackBots to the Canadian Department of National Defence, future improvements in robotic autonomy will see new roles being defined for the systems.
