Australia calls on industry for new SUAS+

The Australian Department of Defence has outlined its plan to acquire a small unmanned aerial system ‘plus’ (SUAS+) for use with the army, special forces and Regional Force Surveillance units. 

Capabilities of the system being requested include a minimum of an hour-long endurance on station and an ability to ‘covertly view areas of interest’ from a distance of 20km and beyond.

The solution is expected to demonstrate TRL 8 or higher, with Australia planning on operating the systems through ‘dismounted patrols’ alongside a variety of land vehicles and air assets. However, no specific platforms relating to one or other are
